Today is Wednesday of Holy Week. The liturgical colour is purple.

Our Gospel is from Matthew 26:14-25.

In this Gospel, Judas, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, goes to the chief priests and agrees to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Later, during the Last Supper, Jesus tells His disciples that one of them will betray Him. The disciples are stunned. Even Judas joins in the doubt. But Jesus confirms that He knows what’s happening. Even someone close to Jesus can turn away from Him. But Jesus is not surprised. He still chooses love, even when facing betrayal.

Prayerfully, we read:

“What will you give me if I betray him to you?”
- Matthew 26:15

Reflect.

A Dangerous Trade

Judas had walked with Jesus. Listened to Him. Eaten with Him. Seen miracles. And yet… he traded all of it for thirty pieces of silver.

It’s hard to imagine turning on someone so kind, so faithful. But Judas did—and Jesus knew he would. Still, Jesus sat at the table with him. Still, He offered bread. Still, He loved.

This story reminds us that Jesus isn’t shocked by our brokenness. He sees every part of us—the loyal parts and the ones that wander—and He never stops inviting us back. Even in betrayal, Jesus chooses love.

Now, take a moment:

Listen to the song as you reflect on today's image. What stands out to you?

Respond.

Together, we pray:

Jesus,
help me to follow You and not be distracted by other things.
Keep my heart close to Yours.
Amen.

Discuss.

We have spent time with Jesus, now we ask:

Is there anything in your life—like fear, pride, or comfort—that stops you from following Jesus?

We look forward to praying with you tomorrow.
