We begin together…

With the Sign of the Cross:

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Today is Good Friday. The liturgical colour is red.

Our Gospel is from John 18:1-19:42.

After praying with His disciples, Jesus is arrested in a garden. Judas, who had betrayed Him, leads the soldiers there. Jesus is taken to the high priest and then to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.

People lie about Jesus and demand He be crucified, even though He’s innocent. Pilate gives in, and Jesus is beaten, mocked, and made to carry His own cross.

On the hill called 'Golgotha', Jesus is nailed to the cross. As He dies, He speaks words of forgiveness and love.

Finally, He says, “It is finished,” and gives up His spirit. His friends take His body and lay it in a tomb. This moment is painful, but powerful—it shows the depth of Jesus’ love. He gave everything to save us.

Prayerfully, we read:

“Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.’”
- Luke 23:46

Reflect.

Love that Gave Everything

In the garden, Jesus could have run. On trial, He could have defended Himself. On the cross, He could have come down.

But He didn’t. He stood silently. He carried the weight. He stretched out His arms—not in weakness, but in love. Every step of the Passion was chosen. For us. For you.

This gift of life was given by the Father, through the Son. Jesus died so we may receive this life; a life to the full.

Now, take a moment:

Listen to the song as you reflect on today's image. What stands out to you?

0:00/1:34

Respond.

Together, we pray:

Jesus,
thank You for the cross.
Help me to never forget how much You love me.
May I live for you, everyday.
Amen.

Discuss.

We have spent time with Jesus, now we ask:

What does it mean to you that Jesus chose the cross and gave everything… for you?

We look forward to praying with you tomorrow.
